Prior to yesterdays rains coming in, there was a
bit of improvement in the walleye
bite.
Heard of
several fair to good catches of
walleyes between 16 to 23 inches. These fish were
caught using
spinners and crawlers that were fished
near bottom using bottom-bouncers or slip-sinker rigs.
I believe
a night bite should begin soon. We are going to
concentrate on more of our live-bait methods
of
jigging/rigging with minnows and
crawlers.
Working edges and
breaks
throughout the bay as well as the
heavy green weedbeds that contain good growths of
cabbage weed.
Places to start fishing are the reefs of
the
north end. They
include
Center Reef
and both the east and west
shorelines
south of Gladstone. Each day out
there always seems to be a number of boats
working the Black Bottoms but reports have
been minimal.
Water surface temps. are at approx.
64 to 66
degrees but there is a front
moving
in through the next several days
with north winds forcasted.
We continue to give you the
best possible reports we can telling you how it
is.
We know the
fishing slow-down will pick up very soon.
Good Luck
Fisherman and see you out on the
water!
